Barneys Barnyard Petting Zoo

   We are planning on opening on May 1st, 2010. Our hours this year will be Fri, Sat and Sun from 11 to 4. I would like to be open more days but I got called back to my job, after being told it's a permanent lay off and starting the petting zoo, I'm back at work. So for now, we'll only be opened on these 3 days, unless I get laid off again, it'll be Wed thru Sun. If someone wants us to be opened on other days for a group, please call us at 608-248-2027 or email me at MandNPaints@aol.com. I'll always get back to you within 24 hours, if you don't hear back, it means I didn't receive your message, I sometimes have computer problems. I hope our shortage of hours doesn't inconvenience others, it will get better with time. Thanks for understanding.

We are going to be better next yr as we've learned a lot from these first few months. We are adding certain animals for more fun for the kids. We'll have bottle babies little Baby Doll lambs. Also a bottle baby mini cow. Baby horses, baby donkeys, baby goats, etc. We have just purchased a beautiful friendly llama that is pregnant for next year so we'll have a baby llama too. We have a lot of idea's to work on over the winter months.

 We may still be able to bring our animals to heated garages for parties if the weather allows it, just call 608-248-2027 or email MandNPaints@aol.com. and we can talk about it. We may be able to do nursing homes, etc also, call or email if you would like us.

We want to thank everyone who has come to our petting zoo and have had parties with us this yr.

The animals will now be tucked away in there winter quarters to just be animals and stay warm.

     We are easy to find. Highway 35 runs past Cochrane. County 0 crosses Hwy 35 (right by the Golf Course). Turn out into the country on County 0 and come 2 1/2 miles to the top of the bluff. Immediately on top of the bluff, Belvidere Ridge Road comes off from your left, turn left on it and we are right there, on the corner, about 100 ft and our driveway is on the left side of the road.

Our love for all animals has inspired the idea of a petting zoo. We've had many requests from friends, neighbors and relatives to come to visit and play with the animals so after much thought, we've decided that Barney's Barnyard should be born!

We have decided to share our little animals with children and adults who may not have access to these wonderful pets! We will be offering a farm petting zoo/party experience and a mobile petting zoo/party.  Barney is our farm mascot, he is a darling little donkey that loves people and loves to be petted. He will be here at all times to greet the children and adults.

We feel this is a learning experience for children. Kids that learn to love and appreciate animals seem to have more compassion for all living things.

   We'd planned on staying open until Christmas but as the time draws nearer and we've given it more thought, we don't think it'd be fair for the animals. They need to be tucked away in there winter quarters and be left there until spring. I think when the weather is so gorgeous and beautiful it's easy to forget how mean and nasty the winters can be.
